Kids Commons Community Children’s Museum Columbus- Mrs.Bishop

*Disclosure- I received free tickets in exchange for sharing our experience. All opinions are my own.*

We had the opportunity a couple of weeks ago to visit a local gem in our community. Kids Commons is a Community Children’s Museum in the new town we moved to a few months ago- Columbus, Indiana. A fun filled, children centered locale with activities for the whole family- no matter the age.  kidscom1

Opportunities for fun and learning are around every corner. My budding engineer really enjoyed the areas where he was able to try his hand at building with all sorts of mediums.

He was especially taken with this room, where he was able to set up his own model town. Complete with buildings, roads, parks, power lines, etc. Only limited by his imagination, he spent the majority of his time there.

There was also an area where you could construct a bridge, or build actual model-sized buildings.

There are also areas to learn about different cultures. This kid-sized Japanese home was really neat. It even included a room with tatami mats, model food, clothes, and everything you need to teach your children about Japanese life. As a homeschool Momma, this will come in handy when we learn about this particular part of the world.

The great thing is that the kids can interact with everything!

With 3 floors of interactive, learning and fun- you can make a whole day out of your visit!

There’s even a giant toilet that kids can climb in- need I say more?

I will say, keep in mind that it’s filled with children, so they sometimes have the exhibits a mess- but my little guy didn’t mind a bit. That’s the fun part, that you can interact and be a part of everything.

We’ll definitely be making a return visit, and utilizing the museum in our homeschool adventures. If you’re local to Columbus, or in a nearby city, definitely add Kids Commons to your family’s travel list!
