…knitting the time away…

Only 3 posts in and I’m already behind on keeping up my blog. Though no one might never read it- it turns out to be great therapy. So, I’ve been busy this weekend….knitting. I taught myself how to do the basic knit stitch last year from a book. This year, my mom’s best friend, and neighbor of mine- took up knitting as well. She shared a pattern with me for dish rags, and got me back in the knitting mood. My grandma or “Mam” as we call her, loves homemade gifts for Christmas. So, she’ll be getting dish rags. I know it might seem tacky, but she would rather have homemade gifts more than the most expensive gift money could buy. She already has several of my art pieces from high school ceramics in her house. But, this knitting has become a hobby that I love. It gives me something to do when my hubby is itching to watch a football game or play a video game. It has gotten me through a lot of down time this weekend, and I can’t get enough. In fact, I’ll be heading to town tonight to pick up some more yarn!
Here are 2 of the completed dish rags so far. The red one, my sis-in-law has already called dibs on, and the green one is one of the ones for my grandmother.

Here is the beginning of a new stitch that I learned from a website last night, it’ll be a scarf. I was only practicing the pattern however, and plan on buying some nicer yarn to actually make it in.
I also am excited to learn to knit baby blankets, etc, as I am trying to get pregnant. I’m hoping that the knitting will help me pass those 9 long worrisome months.

Kudos to you for knitting 😉 Knitting intimidates me, so I crochet instead lol Crocheting seems so much easier to me, I don't know why. Knitting is very pretty though, and I admire it… maybe someday I will get the guts to tackle it. You dish rags look nice, and the new pattern too 🙂

Thanks…since I started knitting first, crocheting seems super difficult to me!It must be easier, whichever you learn first. My aunt is teaching me to crochet, and she's always like "STOP! You're holding your hand like you're knitting!" lol
