More Tasty Pumpkin Treats

So this weekend I decided to go ahead and try some more pinterest pumpkin recipes, and since we’re the youth group leaders at our church, I tested them on the kids! Ha-ha-ha! The two recipes I decided to try were 2 ingredient pumpkin muffins, and pumpkin puppy chow. First the muffin recipe: the original site it came from was here. You basically add a cake mix and canned pumpkin together.
Stir it really good, and put it in some cute muffin cups- I found some really cute ones at the $ tree! Have I ever mentioned my love for that store?!

Next you bake them at 350 for 20-25 minutes, mine took the longer end of the spectrum.
Then, you let them cool and sprinkle them with powdered sugar.

They’re not too bad. A little short on pumpkiny flavor, but moist and cake like. I definitely tasted more of the cake mix than the pumpkin. If I make these again, I will definitely add some pumpkin pie spice, which you can find the recipe for in that earlier post. I also would smooth them out a little, because once I put them in the muffin cups, they pretty much stayed whatever shape they were in. Overall, not bad, but just needs a little something extra.

The second recipe I tried out this weekend was Pumpkin Puppy Chow, that’s the original recipe post. Let me just say- YUM O! It’s also really simple to make. You buy some of these:

You melt them over a double boiler (or have your hubby do it so you can take some pics)

And then you dump that melted goodness over 9 cups of chex mix…

Then you dump in some powdered sugar and shake, shake, shake!

And out comes this super yummy, powdered sugary, goodness. We LOVED it. In fact, while I was grocery shopping yesterday, my hubby called and said, “can you buy some more stuff to make that puppy chow when we run out?”. I’m glad I married a pumpkin fanatic like myself!
I got the very last bag of pumpkin hershey kisses, and the last 2 cans of pumpkin at wal mart yesterday, by the way. There must be other people out there going pumpkin crazy and reading Pinterest like me. Go ahead and be on the lookout later this week for some more pumpkin recipes, including one of my own, and my very yummy stewed apple recipe!
On a side note, in the $ section at Target (which I love just like the $ Tree) I found these adorable disposable coffee cups, that I just had to bring home with me!
