Last night I met an amazing group of women at a new book club a friend it invited me to. I only had a few days to read the book, but it really spoke to me. We read, “Desperate” by Sarah Mae and Sally Clarkson. And let me tell you, if you are a christian mother, this book will really speak to you. The entire time I was reading it, I was thinking to myself, “I could have written this. She sounds just like me!”
It talks a lot about how as mothers we get overwhelmed, and how we think we are all doing such a terrible job at motherhood. And, then you read this and realize, “Hey, I’m not the only one.” It talks about how we should take care of ourselves so that we may be better mothers. And, a part that really spoke to me said that: why do we expect so much from our children, when we ourselves mess up so very often. It is a sinful world, and our children are subject to the same failings that we are.
I am thankful to have found this book, it has really encouraged me to set goals for myself and be the best mother that I possibly can. And, it was so nice to have a nice night out with a group of mom’s with the same ideals and struggles that we are all going through. I don’t have a lot of close “Mommy” friends, so this was a blessing.
I encourage all of you mothers out there to join a group where you can talk about the challenges and rewards of being a mother, no matter which stage of your child’s life you are going through. It can be such a blessing, and as we all know, us Mommas need a night out every now and again!
Next we will be reading “Unglued“. So, I will have a small review on that soon!
