Now that the warm weather is (sorta) here to stay, at least in my house, it’s leg shaving season. I have never been a huge fan of shaving my legs, but I have super dark, thick hair. And PCOS. So shaving my legs this time of year is pretty much a daily chore.

One of the hardest parts about doing this every day, is the toll that most shaving creams take on my skin. The “sensitive” brand I was buying at my local store was full of chemicals and wreaking havoc on my hands. And my legs weren’t faring much better.

But, this year I have come across 3 great brands that are perfect for my fellow sensies out there.

Whish Beauty makes this Shave Cream that is a super thick and rich no-drying foam that makes shaving a much more pleasant experience. It just takes a little bit to spread over your entire leg, and even after shaving and stepping out of the shower my legs didn’t feel dried out at all. It comes in a lot of different scents, so it’s almost impossible to find one you don’t like. I will say, it’s much easier to use in the shower rather than the bath, because it’s so thick. And rinse your razor often, so it doesn’t get gunked up. But it you stick to those rules, you’ll be smooth as silk in no time. It’s full of moisturizing, nourishing, smoothing ingredients- your legs will thank you!

The Kiss My Face 4 in 1 Fragrance Free Shaving Cream is great for us super sensitive skinned ladies. For one, it’s fragrance free, which my skin always thanks me for. It’s super light, and suds’s up more like a soap. But, it creates a super light barrier on your legs that allow you to get a really close shave. It’s free of the bad stuff, and it’s Vegan Friendly and Gluten Free. You will need to moisturize after using it, at least I do, but the pump is super convenient for the bath or shower.

Alba Botanica’s Very Emollient Cream Shave is also a great unscented option. It, however is SUPER thick, very jelly-like. After a little trial and error, I discovered to use a little less and mix in some water and it became a much better medium. A little goes a long way, but I kept wasting a lot trying to get the right consistency. It didn’t break out my skin, and I’d probably buy it again because it’s much better than the toxic options.

All 3 of these are great if you have sensitive skin or are looking for less toxic shaving options. Pick one of these up online or at your local Organic Stores (I got 2 of them at my local Lucky’s Market). Go ahead and give them a try and see if they work better than your old stand-bys. It can’t hurt to try something new, and your skin may thank you for it.
