""""This month’s Book was sent to me from Bethany House Publishers. I received this book in exchange for an honest review, all opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links.

Welcome back to my monthly Book Review- this month’s pick was Your Sacred Yes: Trading Life-Draining Obligation for Freedom, Passion & Joy by Susie Larson.

In the vein of The Best Yes, this book gives you permission to say no, without feeling bad, when you know that adding an obligation will hinder your spiritual walk, “when we’re sloppy with our yes, we miss out on God’s best.”

Susie Larson teaches us that it’s okay to slow down, “If we approach every day the same way, like it’s a sprint, we’ll burn out and never reach our fullest potential.” And that even Jesus, our living Savior needed times of rest, “the discipline of rest is as much an act of faith as hard work is.”

She talks of asking God to direct our lives, and how most of the time we ignore his response, “I conveniently ignored the breeze blowing through my hair and reasoned that God had intended those winds of change for someone else.”

And asks the hard questions that others don’t want to. “Why does it so often take tragedies, hardships, and heartaches to make us stop and really think about our lives to the point that we change our priorities?”

I really enjoyed this book and am taking it to heart. Larson really digs deep into what makes us so busy, and gently reminds us to take a step back, re-evaluate, and really spend time doing the works that God wants us to be doing, not the ones we THINK we SHOULD be doing.

The book is definitely one you should read a chapter at a time, really ponder on and pay attention to. It’s not a sit and read it all in one sitting read. But, one that really speaks to your soul and has you “trading your life draining obligation for freedom, passion, and joy.”

I would recommend this book to anyone who has trouble saying “no” and who is overwhelmed with all of their “yesses”. Someone who wishes to follow the path God has set out for them.

This book would make a great Bible Study or small group.
