*I received some of these books in exchange for sharing them with you. All opinions are my own.*

This month’s review is a little different (and a little late), as I’m sharing a review of several books. And, instead of reviewing a book I read, I’m posting about some that my little guy read.

Have you ever heard of BabyLit books? If you have a baby/toddler and you haven’t heard of them- go check them out! As a total bibliophile, I was so excited to hear about this company that turns classic literature into board books for kids.

They asked which books I’d like to read, and I picked Moby Dick and Sherlock Holmes for my little guy, because they are my hubby’s favorite books. I thought it would be a great experience for my son to get a taste of his Daddy’s favorite novels. They also included a copy of Don Quixote, and I’m really glad they did. They were all really great primers and have taught my son so much already!

In Moby Dick: An Ocean Primer, you’re little one will learn the names of the characters in the book, the names of sea animals, and things about the ocean. I love that it’s great to read to your littles, or easy enough that my 3 1/2 year old can read some of it to himself. He was on the potty the other day, and I heard him say, “Ishmael, Queequeg, Daggoo, Stubb, Starbuck.” He has it memorized now, and has even inspired his Momma to finally read Moby Dick.

Sherlock Holmes: A Sounds Primer is a great way to share your love of Sherlock and teach your children about the sounds that different things make. They will learn things like, “Hounds Howl” and “Stairs Creak”. It’s fun to read and make the sounds for your little ones. And my son really loves reading this one and making the sounds for me.

If you want a really simple way to start teaching your kids another language, check out Don Quixote: A Spanish Language Primer. It has a word with pictures in english, and then the same picture with the words in spanish. It could also be used the other way, to teach someone who speaks spanish the english words. Kids pick up on this stuff really easily. My son has the spanish words memorized now, and will tell me the spanish word for everything in the book. It really has made me understand that now is the best time to start teaching my child another language, and about other cultures.

I really love being able to share my love of reading with my little guy, and being able to give him a taste of some of my favorite classics. The stories are simple, and the illustrations are absolutely adorable. And, they have more than just books- they also have Puzzles and Games, Tote Bags, Dolls, Apps, and Prints from the Illustrator.

These would make an excellent gift for a child’s birthday or a book loving Momma at her Baby Shower.

I can’t wait to get my little guy the whole collection, and teach him a love for reading!
