This year- being a BIG birthday for my little man, I had every intention of throwing a BIG party. Lots of frills, lots of people, handmade this and that. Lots of details. And probably spending a small fortune.<\/p>\n

But after asking my little guy what he wanted- he of course just wanted a party featuring his favorite cartoon character\u2026Blaze! And with the fact that our house is currently on the market, holding an huge (see: MESSY) bash seemed highly inconvenient.<\/p>\n

Then, I thought, \u201cthe least I could do, is buy a big fancy, expensive bakery cake.\u201d And my little boy said, \u201cMommy, we can make a chocolate cake with chocolate icing together?\u201d<\/p>\n

So, out went the big expensive plans. We had a small family gathering, with store bought decorations. With the most homemade cake you ever saw. And it was PERFECT.<\/p>\n

I used his toys, which we already had as decorations. He helped me make up cute-sy names for the snacks.\"IMG_5418\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We kept it simple.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t stress.<\/p>\n

NONE of the snacks were handmade\u2026other than hot dogs, popcorn, and pasta salad (not pictured). Which might be the best food for when feeding a crowd anyway!<\/p>\n

Also- snacks like these are the best for grazing and feeding your faces while standing around chatting with friends and family.<\/p>\n

This was definitely the most stress-free party I have ever planned in my life.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t Pinterest-worthy. The pictures aren\u2019t flawless. The food wasn\u2019t beautiful. But, it was tasty and it filled our bellies.\"IMG_5501\"<\/a>This happy boy still got to unwrap lots of fun gifts from the sweet family that loves him well.<\/p>\n

And blow out candles on a cake, that he was so proud to have helped with.<\/p>\n

I loved this year\u2019s party. It was relaxing and fun. I didn\u2019t run around like a crazy person trying to make it perfect. We had a good time.<\/p>\n

When we layed our stinker-boy down for bed, I heard him giggling for at least 30 minutes. I\u2019m sure he was reliving all of the fun moments he had throughout the day.<\/p>\n

What more could I ask for?<\/p>\n
