Do you follow me on Goodreads?

If you do you’ll see that I’ve already made it through quite a few books these past few months. Sickness in January had me reading the most books I think I’ve ever read in a month. I was okay with it, because in 2016 for the first time in forever I failed to reach my reading goal.

Not this year!

I thought I’d share with you the books I’ve read this year, (in order of when I read them) with a tiny blurb review about each.

For All Time by Jude Deveraux– Jude Deveraux is one of my favorite authors ever. I picked this book up for $1 and thought it was a cute, sweet lighthearted read. But, it’s the 2nd in a series and I haven’t read the other books. I’ll probably go ahead and finish them eventually when I run out of books to read. Not my favorite of hers (that would be Summerhouse in case you’re wondering), but not a terrible book by any means.

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover– Oh my goodness this book got me in the feels. If there’s ever been a character that you’ve loved and hated at the same time, you will find them here. Heart breaking and sweet all at the same time. One of my fave reads of the year thus far…and another one that I read in one sitting.

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven- This was my first read by this author. It made me sad and angry, and sad again. But, that doesn’t mean I hated the book. You’ll understand once you give it a read.

A Paris Apartment by Michelle Gable– I didn’t expect to like this book, but ended up liking it more than I thought I would. Mostly because I love the way it describes Paris. But, I love the characters written about in the letters as well. (If you read it you’ll understand). This is different than most books that I would normally pick up, but I’m glad I did.

The Broken Way by Ann Voskamp– Ann Voskamp has a way of touching your soul with her words. Of digging deep into herself, and sharing hard things. I feel like she and I are both old souls, and I always enjoy what she writes. But, I have to take everything that she writes in small sips- so it takes me a little longer than usual to read her works.

So that’s what I’ve completed on my reading list so far. And I’m reading like 5 other books at the moment depending on what kind of mood I’m in.

I just really wanted to update you on what I’ve been reading because I love to talk books and haven’t mentioned them in awhile.

What are you reading? If you have any questions or just want to discuss books in the comments, please do! I love giving recommendations and talking books- all day, every day!

*This post doesn’t contain affiliate links or anything, I just linked the books to Goodreads so you can easily find the descriptions and add them to your reading list!*

In 2016, for the first time in forever I failed to reach my reading goal. This was a random library pick. Would I read another one of her books in this series? Maybe- but it’s not at the top of my list.

Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella– I loved this book! It’s lighthearted and funny, and has an interesting love story that is a little different than most. I love most of Sophie Kinsella’s books, and this was no different. It’s a good quick read for a rainy day or trip to the beach.

Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris– I read this book in one sitting. It really sucked me in because you’re just not *quite* sure where the story is going to lead. A good, quick thriller. No, I will not compare it to Gone Girl or Girl on the Train like every.single.thriller has been getting compared to…don’t get me started. It’s definitely its own story, and one that I would totally recommend if you like thrillers but don’t have much time to read.

One of Us by Tawni O’Dell– Another random library pick up. This book was okay. Pretty dry, and I had the mystery figured out pretty early on. Not horrible, but I probably won’t be grabbing any more books by this author in the near future.

The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon– This was definitely a teeny-bopper young love story. But, that was obvious since it’s a YA novel. It’s sweet and endearing with likeable characters. There’s not really anything bad I can say about it.

Where’d You Go Bernadette by Maria Semple– If you like crazy, outlandish characters with a little bit of an ‘out-there’ story, this book is for you. It’s crazy but I couldn’t help but love this story! It’s also written interestingly, through letters and emails, etc. Different, but good! They’re making it into a movie and I’ll definitely be going to see it!

The Obsession by Nora Roberts– If you don’t like Nora Roberts, I’m not sure we can be friends. I have fallen in love with every main character that I’ve ever read of hers. This book is no different. This is definitely one of her darker novels, but still a really good read. Especially if you’re already a fan of hers.

When I’m Gone by Emily Bleeker-I liked the premise of this book much more than the actual story. It’s sad, and your heart goes out to the characters. I still enjoyed it, but wouldn’t necessarily recommend it, if you know what I mean?

The Art of Crash Landing by Melissa DeCarlo– You know when you like a book but you want to shake the crap out of the main character, and tell her to get her act together? Or maybe punch them in the face. That was me with this book.

Before the Fall by Noah Hawley– This was definitely not my normal type of read. More like something I would expect my Husband to read. But, not bad. I liked the story and was intrigued by the situation. But, I’m not going to lie- I was slightly disappointed by the ending.

Talking as Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham– You gotta love Lauren Graham! I mean, she’s one of the most iconic tv moms of my generation. Her wit and humor really surprised me. She’s a lot more like Lorelai Gilmore than I thought she would be.

The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George– Another book I grabbed because it had Paris in the title. It’s a little slow, and dry at times. But, it contains a large cast of likeable characters that will stick with you even after you’ve finished reading.

Paris for One by Jojo Moyes– Yes, I know. Another book with Paris in the title. I have a sickness! But, I’ve loved every single book that I’ve read by Jojo Moyes, so I knew I couldn’t go wrong. And I love short stories, because I can read them in one sitting. Which is rare for any Mom. Grab a glass of wine and read it in the tub. Or, you know, on the toilet- sorry, not sorry.

Ink and Bone by Lisa Unger– This was another book that I judged before I even started, thinking I wouldn’t like it. But, I actually really ended up enjoying it. It’s got a lot of good plot twists and will keep you guessing and wanting to keep reading just ‘one more chapter’. If you’re on the lookout for a new mystery/thriller, go ahead and pick this one up.

Shopgirl by Steven Martin– I have *almost* read this book SO many times, and I finally grabbed it for like less than $1 with a Half Price Books gift card. And, not gonna lie, I was a little bored and disappointed by it. It was not at all my style. Sorry, Steve Martin. Still love ya.
