*disclaimer- all of these photos came from goodreads*

I haven’t done a book review post in what feels like forever- but don’t worry, I’ve still been reading. At last count, I’ve read 63 books this year- and once I finish typing this post I’ll be starting yet another one. These cold winter days are perfect for snuggling up in front of the fire with a good read.

Since it’s the final day of 2017, I wanted to share my favorites from the year with you. It was so hard narrowing it down, because I thoroughly enjoyed many of them (and even loathed a few!). But, here are 9 books that I really loved this year…in no particular order:

"tafaic"If you were as excited about the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life release as I was, you definitely need to read this book. Lauren Graham is hilarious and so much like the characters that she portrays on our favorite shows. Her humor and wit as she shares her life and career with you will have you loving her even more. I didn’t read a ton of non-fic this year, but I’m glad I went for this one.

"girlyouleft"In my opinion, Jojo Moyes can really do no wrong. There isn’t one of her books that I’ve read that I didn’t enjoy. The Girl You Left Behind is no exception. It’s heartwarming, gut-wrenching, and beautifully written. Definitely my favorite historical fiction of the year.

"keeperoflost"The Keeper of Lost Things was a book that I picked up on a whim, and really enjoyed. It’s such a sweet read that ties so many stories together. But, it does so in an interesting way- that didn’t confuse or bore me. I fell in love with the characters and feel like I really got to know them. This book was truly a gem.

"mynotsoperflife"

Sophie Kinsella always writes the most lovable, flawed characters. Katie (Cat) Brenner is the quintessential Kinsella character- a hilarious hot mess, that you want to be your very best friend. I loved this quick, light read and would definitely recommend it if you’ve read any of Sophie’s other works.

"girlbefore"I’m not going to lie- I grabbed this book by accident, because I had another book with the same title on my to-read list. But, it was a happy accident. By happy, I don’t mean the book is happy. Because it really isn’t. It will absolutely gut you and break your heart. But, it is so well written that you actually feel sympathy for characters, even though you despise them. I read this book in one sitting, in just a couple of hours. I could not put it down.

"omam"You know if my girl Jen writes a book, it’s going to be a good one. She was back again this year with another hilarious, raw, real, honest book that I just couldn’t get enough of. I’ve read it several times, and pretty much have recommended it to every woman in my life. Also- I spy my name in the back, which never hurts!

"bernadette"I had to include Where’d You Go, Bernadette in my list, because I have never read another book like it. It is truly an original. While I think the main character may be a nut- I laughed out loud and could never quite figure out what was going to happen next. It’s coming to theaters next year if you don’t feel like reading it- but I would recommend it if you’re looking for something a little different.

"parisbookshop"Give me a book set in Paris and I’ll read it. A book about books? I’m totally there. This is a slower read, meant for hot tea and long, lazy days. But it has interesting characters that you won’t soon forget.

"itendswithus"I didn’t think I would like this book at first. I thought it would just be another boring love story. But, it isn’t. It made me SO angry. Then it broke my heart. With real, flawed characters and hard truths about love and relationships, it’s definitely one of my favorites of the year- another one I read in one night.

I wish I could share a little about every book I read this year, but that would take way too much time. If you want to keep up with what I’m reading, you can always follow me on Goodreads.

What were your favorites of the year? I definitely need recommendations for the next few, cold months. I do most of my reading in the Winter (I read 15 books last January alone).
