*Disclosure: I received this book from Blogging for Books- all opinions are my own.*

Motherhood is hard. It’s by far the hardest job I’ve ever had. It’s also wonderful, beautiful, hilarious, frustrating, heartbreaking, and every other emotion you can think of.

It’s also sometimes a struggle, because these tiny people we created came with SO many emotions. They also come with their own opinions and personalities. I always joke with my Husband that our son has our best AND WORST traits. Which makes parenting him quite an adventure.

"gospel-centered-mom"

After I finished reading Gospel Centered Mom by Brooke McGlothlin, I had so much of the book highlighted and covered in post-it notes that it’s barely recognizable! She is completely speaking my language. She has also given me more confidence in my parenting journey than I’ve had in a long time. Because she reminded me that,

“No matter how hard my children are to raise, they are the story God has asked me to live. And he’s asked me to live that story in such a way that my responses bring Him glory.”

Got me right in the gut. Just like I shared earlier this week about being right where I’m supposed to be right now in my life, this IS my story and He chose me to raise this particular child. And I should be doing so in a way that brings Him glory!

She showed me that instead of worrying SO much about the future and what I’m doing right or wrong, I really need to focus on HIM.

“We’ve become so caught up in whether we’re doing all the right things in the right way for our children so they can get into the right schools and find the right careers and marry the right people and build productive lives. As a result we’ve forgotten our one true calling: to pursue God’s truth and grace and presence above all else.”

And that the HARDEST part of parenting is this:

“Choosing to believe that God loves your children more than you do and believing that He’s still good no matter what happens to them is much harder, but it’s at the heart of the Gospel.”

I have to choose to believe that God has our best interest at heart. That He will protect us and aide us in this child-rearing gig we’ve gotten ourselves into. I have to shed my misconceptions and fears and TRUST in Him.

I’m choosing to be a Gospel Centered Mom from now on.

If you haven’t had the chance to read this book I HIGHLY recommend it. It has truly given me more confidence in my mothering skills and helped me to see the changes I need to make. A great read for Moms of any aged kids.

Stay tuned for more books on the horizon because I’ve been reading like a madwoman.
