If you know anything about love languages, and know the one of your spouse- I’ve found that it really has an impact on how well your marriage works. I am a typical Gifts person. Gifts make me feel loved. I love surprises. It can be a tiny gesture- a coffee or a bundle of flowers. It doesn’t matter. And my Husband speaks my love language fluently. I, on the other hand have never been that great at speaking his.

He is definitely a words of affirmation guy. Me telling him how wonderful he is, what a great job he’s doing, what an amazing father he is- these words of affirmation totally fill his cup! But, after telling him those things- I tend to run out of ideas on how else to compliment him. Especially ways that still feel genuine. That’s where this book comes in!

This book is chock full of sweet, and REAL ways to tell your Husband how amazing he is- without feeling like you’re trying to hard. Nice ways you can affirm him each and every day. I love all of the ideas that Lisa Jacobson gives us. Some I would have never even thought of. But, I know they’re working, because I’ve already slipped in a few of them here and there in conversation- and I can tell my Husband totally appreciates it!

I love that Lisa and her Husband still have a fresh and fun marriage, even after 25 years. That’s something I strive for! My Husband and I are best friends and partners. And we protect and serve one another. That’s one thing she pointed out that I really loved- to support your Husband. Even when you’re talking to your friends. Talk him up! I try to never speak ill of my Husband to others. Because that can tear him down, and a marriage really quick.

There are all sorts of short and sweet ways this book taught me, that I can speak my Husband’s love language. And it was a super quick read, making it slip into my reading list seamlessly. So, if you’re on the lookout for ways to speak life into your marriage- and your spouse, this book may be for you.

{Tis the season for gift giving, and books are one of my favorite gifts to receive.
