My cousin has been trying for years to have a baby, and finally she is getting a little man at the end of January. I myself was right where she was last year, and am so ecstatic for her. My mom and I are throwing her a sports themed baby shower on Saturday. It’s going to be pretty simple, but I thought I’d share some of it with you. I just finished up her diaper cake this weekend…it’s the first one I’ve ever really made. But I am pretty happy with the way it turned out, and it fits the theme perfectly.
I started with a bunch if random materials, and of course, diapers.
Excuse the other mess on my table there, until I get my craft room up and running, my kitchen table is where I do most of my crafting. I had some sports baby toys, baby spoons, ribbon, socks, etc….
I rolled up each diaper and secured it with a rubber band. Rolling from the top down seemed to be the best method of keeping it nice and tight.
Then I grouped them into threes and secured those together with a rubber band.
Then I stacked the layers, and secured them with ribbon.
Then I added the toys, socks, etc… The top layer is secured with baby wrist rattles and a thin, red ribbon. Then I just tried to put all of the stuff on it in a way that was cute, and you could see everything.
It has some baby books that I secured with some clothespins. I thought they looked kinda baby-ish.
Then I added a little “topper” of a helmet that I found for super-cheap at Hob Lob. Overall, it’s simple, but cute. I hope she likes it. Stay tuned for some more sports themed baby shower posts after Saturday!
Check out some other really cute diaper cakes, that you don’t have to make yourself.
