Bingeworthy Netflix Shows for an Old Soul

I have Netflix running on my Kindle Fire whenever I’m doing my makeup or folding laundry. So pretty much all the time- am I right? Obviously I’ve re-watched Friends, Gilmore Girls, and all of my favorite chick flicks, but lately I’ve been loving period dramas. So, here’s my current favorite binge-worthy shows for everyone with an old soul like me:

Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries

Phryne Fisher is a crime-fighting lady detective in 1920’s Australia. What more is there to love? She’s outgoing, fearless, and never far behind murder. With her companion Dot at her side, she’s always on the case. Much to the annoyance of crush-worthy Detective Inspector Jack Robinson. Who I must admit, I’m a little in love with. The show is only 3 seasons long, but the mysteries are intriguing and the Australian accents make it even more lovable. I love anything set in the 20’s, so this totally tickles my fancy.  I also love the music and the clothes- I want it all! I loved it so much, I’ve watched every episode twice.

Land Girls

Land Girls follows the journey of several women who are in the Land Army in the UK during WWII. Your heart will break for all of them, as they navigate a new type of life during the war. If you loved books like the Nightingale or are at all into Historical Fiction, this show’s for you! I wasn’t sure I’d like it at first, but after a couple of episodes I was totally hooked.

The Paradise

The Paradise is set in the Victorian era and follows the story of the world’s first ever department store. All of the shady dealings and secrets that go on behind closed doors, and how the modern world was changed. It follows a woman who works in the store, and you’ll see her story, as well as Mr. Moray, the owner. Who you may also develop a little crush on- accents, ya know? You’ll see the lives of all of the workers and what became of nearby businesses as well. While I didn’t love it as much as the others, I was still hooked, and really liked seeing how more modern shopping came about.

Cable Girls

I literally just started watching this show today, but so far so good. It’s the newest show on my list, a Netflix original set in 1920’s Spain. Like I said, I love all things twenties, so this was obviously next up on my list. Have you watched it? What did you think?

Have you watched any of these shows? If you have- send over your recommendations for similar ones. My old soul is always on the lookout for something fun to binge-watch while I do my household chores.

What are you binge watching?
