Jingle Rails

Local friends and families- if you’re looking for a couple of hours of family fun this Holiday season, look no further than the Jingle Rails: The Great Western Adventure exhibit at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art in Indianapolis.

Don’t forget to snap a pic next to this near-life-sized train model constructed of all natural materials on the way in!

Take your family on a model train adventure exploring almost 1,200 feet of track, featuring 30+ locations, including downtown Indianapolis.

downtownSee your children watch in wonder as 9 model trains wind their way past famous Western Landmarks such as Mount Rushmore, Las Vegas (or Lost Wages, as the hilarious staff member pointed out), and even the Grand Canyon!

trainYou’re so close to everything it feels like for a moment, you were able to hop on a locomotive and travel across the whole Western United States!

railwayThe models are impeccable and the locations are so well done, this is a must see this Holiday Season. You don’t want to miss out on this opportunity- as it all gets packed away January 16th.

There’s plenty to see with 2 rooms of track- we went through 4 times, and still didn’t feel like we got to see it all!

You can make a whole day out of it and check out all of the Museum’s other great exhibits, have lunch at the cafe, and peruse the gift shop. It’s located in Downtown Indy, so there are all sorts of fun things to do nearby- all within walking distance. It’s inexpensive (kids under 4 are free!) and you can even sign up for a membership so you can keep coming again and again!

The staff was so helpful and sweet, it wasn’t too crowded at all, and our little guy truly enjoyed it- making Jingle Rails the perfect little day trip. So, if you need a break from the hustle and bustle of the Holidays- pack up the family and take them on an adventure!
