The Ugly Side of Beauty – Mrs. Bishop

I have some thoughts I wanted to share for me, and all of my fellow Beauty Bloggers of the world.

I have noticed, through occasional mean comments or posts on social media, that because we do beauty posts and share close up photos, some people think we’re being vain. They assume we’re super into ourselves or that we love looking in the mirror.

Let me just say, that that is NOT true at all.

I’ve never thought of myself as super pretty or attractive. I’m just beginning to finally love myself for who I am and how God made me. I never in a million years would have told you that I thought I would give others beauty advice some day- or be an ambassador to beauty brands.

And I know that many of my fellow beauty bloggers would agree when I say…

We are not attention seekers or full of ourselves. We all have flaws that we’re nervous people will point out- acne, scars, random chin hairs, what have you. {Try posting a no makeup selfie and watch people attack!} But, we are trying to share a little beauty with the world. We’re not out to say, “look at me, I’m pretty!” We’re here to make YOU feel good about yourself by sharing our tips on what makes us feel beautiful. We’re going to get up and do our makeup every day anyway, so why not share the love?

I didn’t even set out to become a beauty reviewer per se, it was brought on by necessity. Every product I previously used began breaking me out, and my skin became more and more sensitive. I came to a point where I thought I would never find products that would work for me. I almost gave up the search completely.

But, instead of getting down in the dumps about it, I thought I could use my situation for some good. I was on a mission to find great, sensitive skin friendly products that could help me- and if there was someone else out there with the same problems, I was hoping I could give them a hand as well.

So, if you’re ever wondering why I do it- that’s it. I want to share a little beauty and sparkle with the world. I want everyone to feel good about themselves- whether or not they use the products that I’m using.

I want that Momma who never gets a night out to feel radiant when she finally does. That little girl with psoriasis to know, someday there will be products available for her to use. I want you to feel good about YOU. And, if by sharing the products I use helps even one person, I’m going to keep on doing it. There’s enough ugly in the world, I want to share a little beauty.

And on the flip side- I am just as interested in learning from you! I want to hear what your favorite brands are, what products you can’t live without, and what makes you feel beautiful. Us ladies are in this together- let’s share with one another, and stop tearing each other down.
