Morning Hacks for Back to School for the Not So Morning Person – Mrs. Bishop

*I received a package from Straw Propeller Gourmet Foods in exchange for sharing my thoughts with you. All opinions are my own.*

Yesterday was our first day back to school- which prompted me to make a big breakfast. But, most days that’s totally not the case. I am not a morning person. I never have been. I’ve tried to be, but it’s probably never gonna happen. As a homeschool parent, I do have to be ready each and every morning- and yes, my family has to eat breakfast every.single.day. I’ve learned a few tips and tricks over the years to help set up my day for success- even when all I really want to do is hit the snooze button. So, today I’m sharing my morning hacks for back to school with you.

Prep as much as you can ahead of time.

That means get yourself a coffee pot that has a clock that you can set for morning. I prep our morning coffee the night before, when I’m cleaning up the kitchen after dinner. I’ve made it part of my nightly routine so I don’t forget. And waking up to freshly brewed coffee is much nicer than trying to make a pot before my brain has awakened for the day. My Hubby also really appreciates this. Go ahead and lay out your clothes (and the kiddos if they need help) the night before as well. That way you don’t even have to think about it in the morning. Just grab your clothes, throw them on, and get that coffee in your hand.

This is also why I prefer to shower before bed. Because I am usually the one that runs out of time to shower, (and that is also why dry shampoo is my best friend).

Make breakfast easy on yourself.

Like I said before- yes, everyone needs breakfast. Every day of the week. But, I am never awake enough to want to make anything. That’s why I usually go for convenience foods in the morning. Which isn’t always the healthiest option.

So, to make breakfast time healthier for my family-  I do these things:

Morning Hacks for the Win!

I love that Straw Propeller makes gourmet, grab and go breakfast options for my family that are actually healthy! They also have gluten-free oats, and nut-free and vegan options. Which is great, because I have a lot of dietary restrictions, and these work great for me. The fact that they’re pre-portioned also makes them super tummy friendly, because it gives me just the right amount that I need.

With delicious flavors like Apple Crisp, Banana Bread, and Chocolate Banana Muesli, even my picky eater is satisfied. And then I get the option to try more for me flavors- PB&J, Crunchy Groovy Muesli, and even savory options like Indian Curry and Moroccan Spice.

They have something for everyone- and I love that I’m able to offer my whole family delicious, healthy options- even when I’m half asleep.

They even have variety packs for my Nut Free and Vegan friends!

So, while I can’t make myself into a morning person, I can utilize these morning hacks to set myself up for a more successful day. And even I can appreciate a hot breakfast- especially when I’m not the one making it!
